Meet Marilee Combs: Sasser’s Summer Marketing Videographer Intern
At Sasser Restoration, we prioritize the development of our team members. Our goal is not just to provide restoration services, but to create a workplace where individuals can expand their skills, pursue their passions, and achieve professional excellence. We are committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and personal growth, ensuring each team member has the support and opportunities they need to succeed and thrive in their careers.
Sasser Restoration is excited to introduce Marilee Combs, one of our first videographer interns. In this role, Combs will collaborate closely with Sasser’s marketing team on various videography projects. Jordan Bolch, Sasser Restoration’s Marketing and Communications Director, states, “Because of the nature of our work at Sasser, we often step into hard days. We don’t just witness the physical devastation of fires, water losses, natural disasters, and mold growth; we also see the emotional and personal effects these disasters have on our clients. With Marilee’s help and through video storytelling, we’re able to truly showcase not only the restorative work we do on buildings but also the profound impact we have on people’s lives.”
Combs recently graduated with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received her first degree in Media and Journalism, and her second in Media Production. Regarding her future plans, Combs states that she will be attending Wake Forest University in the fall, where she will be wok towards her MFA in Documentary Film. She aspires to teach video production at a higher education institution, but in the meantime, she is excited to gain more experience in any job opportunity that is available.
So far in her role, Combs has learned the value of helping people. She states, “It has been impactful to see how Sasser tackles natural disasters so that buildings impacted look brand new again. The value of this service to others is the most important thing I’ve learned so far.”
When sharing about what her goals are while working with Sasser, she states, “My goal at Sasser is to share video content that informs and impacts people about what we do here at Sasser. I want people to be able to identify our brand and core values based on our social media presence and looking through our videos. I’m excited to create videos that highlight our dedicated employees and demonstrate our core values every day at work.”
When asked about why she chose Sasser, she says it was because she values Sasser’s mission of service to others and helping during times of need. “I’ve never seen a company that values its customers as much as Sasser does, so that’s why I am excited to be a part of the team this summer and share these values with our audience.”
Combs recently demonstrated her exceptional talent by winning first place in the Hearst Journalism Awards for her short documentary “A Child of Ukraine.” Her achievements didn’t stop there; she also attended the Hearst Journalism National Multimedia Championship in San Francisco in early June, showcasing her skills on a national stage. She hopes to become an educator in a higher education institution teaching video. We’re excited to have her with us and look forward to the innovative insights and energy she will bring to our marketing team.
