Air Fryer Causes Devastating Fire in Multifamily Home

Project Overview:

A fire caused by an air fryer resulted in extensive fire and smoke damage affecting multiple units and common areas. The fire and resulting smoke impacted structural elements, HVAC systems, and interior finishes, requiring a comprehensive restoration effort. Sasser Restoration was called in to mitigate the damage, conduct fire and smoke cleaning, and remediate affected areas while minimizing costs and disruptions to residents.

To address the damage, Sasser Restoration implemented a strategic plan that included fire and smoke cleaning, remediation, and controlled demolition. Heavily impacted units required extensive mitigation, while adjacent units and corridors underwent smoke and odor removal. Air scrubbers were deployed in nearby units to alleviate resident concerns.

Due to the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in the fire-damaged unit, the team utilized specialized cleaning and worked with onsite personnel to comply with budget and safety regulations.
