Case Study: Winter Storm Damage Restoration
On December 22, 2022, Governors across twelve states enacted emergency measures and cold weather protocols to prepare for the severe winter weather sweeping the nation (Source: CNN).
Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina signed a state of emergency in order to prepare for the icy conditions that would affect the western part of the state. Across the country in Texas, Governor Greg Abbot “directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to ready resources in case of severe storms, flash flooding or other extreme weather, according to a statement from his office (Source: CNN)”.
Further north in Buffalo, New York, a blizzard warning went into effect on December 23rd as the state prepared for several feet of snow and wind gusts up to 70mph. This “combination of the snow associated with the bomb cyclone, very heavy lake-effect snow and the high winds” would lead to even more deteriorating conditions (Source: CNN).
This inclement winter weather caused airlines to cancel more than 12,000 flights over the Christmas holiday (Source: CNBC) and caused power outages, burst pipes, flooding and more damages to residential and commercial buildings across the country.
During this time, many called on Sasser Restoration to bring their buildings back to life.
As our commercial clients faced extensive water damage, infrastructure problems, and ice damage this became an all-hands-on-deck situation. Sasser’s technicians, supervisors, project executives, senior leadership and the executive team immediately went into action and created plans to gain control of the situation and get these businesses back to business.
“It was incredible to watch the selfless service of our team during this time,” Miguel Figueroa, Chief Strategy Officer at Sasser Restoration said. “Responsiveness, service and quality are our core values at Sasser Restoration, and I am proud of how every one of our team members embraced these values during this time.”
Starting on December 23rd, the Sasser Restoration team organized, delivered and loaded more than 3,000 pieces of equipment in order to respond to our commercial clients. These clients spanned a vast variety of industries including healthcare facilities, university systems, hospitality services, retirement communities, retail businesses and multi-family residences.
Despite, the different industries, all were facing similar problems with similar goals: regain control and prevent further damage. To accomplish this goal, it was imperative that the issues be responded to immediately in order to negate any secondary damages that could arise.
This Christmas story could have had a very different ending if these commercial businesses had not had an emergency preparedness plan in place and had not contacted Sasser Restoration to bring their buildings back to life.
“We are truly blessed to serve such an amazing clientele and bring their buildings back to life,” Figueroa said.
